About Lorentz Corneliussen

Since Lorentz jumped into real estate in 2018, he has focused on first-time buyers, out-of-state move-ins, and estate sales. Lorentz also participates in local homebuying classes, advocates for tenant rights, and assists the homeless.

Life Outside Real Estate

Lorentz grew up in the brain injury field and remains a fierce disability advocate. He studied Cinema Studies at Oakland University and is an ardent lover of TV, film, and the myriad of ways we communicate as humans.

From 2017-2022, Lorentz started and ran a non-profit called Trans Stellar Film Festival, an international film festival for LGBTQIA-identifying filmmakers.

One of the most life-changing experiences was buying their first home in Ypsilanti.

Anti-Discrimination

Realtors are subject to multiple anti-discrimination laws. It’s important to remember that all of these laws were written in the blood of countless minorities who have been discriminated against for hundreds of years.

Many well-meaning buyers ask questions like, “Are there students in this neighborhood?”, “Is this a gayborhood?”, “Will people who look like me be safe here?”. My definition of a safe neighborhood or a good school may be wildly different than yours, and I encourage you to look up statistics.

When talking about neighborhoods, we can not disclose: Age, Ancestry, Color, Creed, Disability, Familial Status, Gender (Identity), Marital Status, National Origin, Political Belief, Race, Religion, Sex, Sexual Orientation, Source of Income, Student Status, University Affiliation, and Veteran Status.

SADIE EVERHART

Lorentz and Christine are genuinely the only realtors I trust. They’ve helped me buy my first home as well as helped me with the frankly daunting task of selling my father’s home. Either thing would have been so much worse if it wasn’t for them. They are kind, quick, thorough, and go above and beyond every time. Do yourself a favor and hire them!

Christine and Lorentz exceeded every expectation we had! Their unwavering support guided us through every step of the journey, making the daunting process feel so much more manageable. What initially felt terrifying transformed into a shared experience filled with reassurance and encouragement. I can’t express how grateful we are for their kindness and expertise—it’s like they held our hands through it all. Without a doubt, I wholeheartedly recommend them with the utmost enthusiasm! 10/10!

Lorentz was absolutely fantastic to work with. They addressed my multitude of questions & concerns with thoughtfulness and professionalism! If the unexpected arose, they we right there with us, giving us insight, and options to help us decide our next steps.

Our First-Time Buyer Experience

My partner and I agreed it was time to buy our first house after being together for over 10 years.

As a queer person, it was important to me that our identities would not prevent us from receiving quality service.

With Lorentz, we found a team that was dedicated to providing stellar service to all of their clients!

We had a few stumbling points on our journey to Homeownership, but Lauren was the constant in overcoming each one. We would recommend Lorentz to anyone looking to buy a house!

It was amazing to have Lorentz on our house hunting team! As a first time buyer, the entire process seemed immense and overwhelming, but Lauren was able to answer all our questions and work with us through the process. Lorentz was always knowledgeable, responsive, and diligent in getting our questions answered and was crucial in getting us our dream home.

LONG DISTANCE BUYER, 2023

He was pleasant to work with… and not in the fake-o saccharine salespersony stuff.  He visited several houses and took DETAILED videos with him talking about what they were showing us on screen.

Our Long Distance Buying Experience

To anyone in Florida that might be looking for a nice place to live:

During the pandemic, I landed a job near Detroit.  The concept of moving was large.  We were fortunate to find Lorentz Corneliussen as our realtor.

My work schedule, the distance involved, and the time frame on moving made this an even more difficult experience.  Lauren had a meeting with us and took the time to understand ALL of our needs. It wasn’t just “3 bed, 2 bath, blah blah blah” it was, “we’re autistic, we can’t visit, this price, this stuff”.  She nailed every last NEED that we had.

We had a “dream home” on our list.  When Lauren visited the house they said, “Oh my gosh you guys, I so want you to get this house, it is amazing.”  And then their organized several of her contacts to do inspections, electrical work, and any other items that we needed.  (We did comparison shopping and their network was on par with anyone else.  And, when you find someone you trust, their recommendations have more weight.)

My partner made one trip for an inspection (it wasn’t necessary, but it fit into our plan, so we made it happen.)

So, highly recommend.

LONG DISTANCE BUYER, 2022

My advice to anyone buying or selling a home in the area, for sure go with Lorentz. He have their stuff down and have a keen eye for detail, facts, and value. You’ll do well to work with them in finding what you want in a home or posting your home onto the market. You’ve come to the right place, prepare for an easy enough transaction.

Our Long Distance Buying Experience

We decided to relocate from Austin Texas to just outside Detroit for my husband’s job and because we have friends in the area. Win win. Friends of ours gave us Lorentz’s info and it was instant love. From the moment we started working with Lauren to the final close date they were friendly, responsible, helpful, and organised. It was so easy with them leading the charge as we weren’t able to travel and see the houses. We ended up with a gorgeous 1920s home. If only Lauren did mortgages, though. I imagine a much less painful process there.

Mostly my family was looking for someone who spoke our language. Queer, forward, and honest. We are a poly family and I was worried about how a realtor would react to that. We have to take everyone into consideration and the realtor needs to know that. So, along came Lorentz and nary a flinch when I mentioned the three of us. There was so much ease from that moment and we felt like we could trust them to be on our side during the home search and purchase.
